  • Talking Crit Podcast: The Frigid Doom

    26/02/2022 Duración: 29min

Welcome to the first podcast of Talking Crit.  We've been kicking this idea around for a while now.  A lot of the time we finish Critical Role, we need someone to talk to.  We need something to help us process our feelings; because, let's face it, the show taps into those emotions and takes them on a roller coaster ride. Talking Crit was something we came up with, and we hope it helps people out and gives a few laughs to everyone. Please let us know what you think, and if you have any comments or questions please share it with either myself (@Fotoguy79) or Brendan (@makeshiftbren.)  Also, if you have comments for the show, please use the hashtag: #TalkingCrit and we'll join in on your conversation. We will provide links once iTunes and Google Play approves the podcast, and we hope you get some laughs, and we hope you get some enjoyment from a labour of love.  Please have some fun as we jump into Talking Crit for the first time. Critical Role is a live streamed D&D Show on Geek & Sundry's Twitch

  • Talking Crit Podcast: Vorugal

    26/02/2022 Duración: 31min

There was a dragon fight! We give an ESPN like break down of the dragon/demon fight, as well as looking at the fallout from the brawl?  There are only two dragons left of the Chroma Conclave, and one of them could be manipulating Vox Machina.  Is Raishan going to fufill her part of the deal, can VM take down the Cinder King? Our Question of the Week looks at who Raishan killed, and which druid bestowed the soul curse on the green dragon.  She could have been an Ashari tribe member. @Makeshiftbren and I pose our Question of the Week on #TalkingCrit. Was the druid Raishan killed Kiki's mum? Was she killed? #CriticalRole — Jon Robertson (@FotoGuy79) October 20, 2016   If you want to talking any D&D or Critical Role with us, you can find us on twitter: @Makeshiftbren & @Fotoguy79, we'd love to hear from you.

  • Talking Crit Podcast: The Coming Storm

    26/02/2022 Duración: 38min

Vox Machina goes into the planning phase, war is on the horizon.  Does anyone know how to tell the difference between a person and an illusion?  They all look alike.  There are some choices to be made as VM decides between going to the fire plane, or heading to the fort to muster all their allies. Brendan and I recap the episode, and the surprise moment where Percy pulls the trigger early, and almost gets to kill Raishan. Our question of the week this week deals with where we think the part will go next. Question of the week: Where is the next step of the Vox Machina adventure going to go? #TalkingCrit #CriticalRole — Jon Robertson (@FotoGuy79) November 2, 2016 The Critter community is awesome, and they continue to produce awesome art and animations.  Gee Whiz has produced another short, where Scanlan tries to acquire some spice in Ank'Harel.  If you haven't see their animations before, you should.  Go check out their Youtube channel, and be prepared to laugh and remember. As always, use the hashtag #

  • Talking Crit Podcast: The Path of Brass

    26/02/2022 Duración: 16min

It's the day after the election, and we have a lot to go over and get ready for.  I fly solo as Brendan is off for the night.  It's a quicky, given how late we all stayed up.  I go over the Emma Goldstein Effect, and share some stories about going off the rails in an RPG group.  I also talk about possibilities and strategies for the upcoming Thordak fight.  I don't think they're sound, but the world of D&D is a funny place. Our question of the Week is up, please vote and let us know what you think.  It's going to be some hot times in the City of Brass, pun intended, I'm sorry. Question of the Week for #TalkingCrit We jump into the City of Brass. Will Vox Machina retrieve the last vestige? #Criticalrole — Jon Robertson (@FotoGuy79) November 10, 2016 It is time to get some sleep, here's to sunnier days in the morning.

Another Thursday, another fight. Vox Machina finds itself going toe to toe with a Pit Fiend.  It's going to go down in the City of Brass, in the middle of a market.  Brendan and I  recap Where the Cards Fall, and look at character motivations, and Flowers for Grog.  It's going to be a heckuva show down, it could get messy towards the end.  Will Vox Machina have something up their sleeve?  We find out this Thursday. Don't forget to take part in our question of the week.  Will the kids that VM saved offer up some kind of reward or favour?  If they survive the fight with the Pit Fiend. Question of the Week for #TalkingCrit Will saving the Aasimar earn Vox Machina a favour, or ally, from a celestial plane? #Criticalrole — Jon Robertson (@FotoGuy79) November 17, 2016 Don't forget to subscribe to the podcast for automatic updates and episodes.  You can tune in via iTunes or Google Play.  If you want to comment or join along in the fun, you can always use #TalkingCrit and we'll read your questions and comments o

  • Talking Crit Podcast: Battle in the Arches

    26/02/2022 Duración: 29min

It is the holiday time, which means we get to talk D&D as well as which pies are the best pies.  Vox Machina has barely survived the fight with a Pit Fiend, and now they come home to Fort Daxio in ruins. The group is now armed with a vestige each, and it looks like Pike scored the sweetest one.  The big question is, at what cost?  Time spent in the Fire Plane has cost lives and battlements at Daxio. Critical Role takes some time off for Thanksgiving this week, there will be no Talking Crit until the show returns, we will see you all in a weeks time.  In the filler time, enjoy the new show Talk Machina, which has interviews and contests that you should be involved in.  Follow them on twitter, and if it hits all your Critical Role hot spots, then sign up for Project Alpha and enjoy the show. • Talking Crit Podcast: The Siege of Emon

    26/02/2022 Duración: 34min

The last fight is upon us, the Cinder King is ready and waiting for Vox Machina.  This week we look at the lead up to the fight and all the feels we're getting over it.  It's been almost a year since this story arc launched, and we're seeing the conclusion on the horizon. It's been a helluva story so far, regardless of the result, we'll be talking about this fight for a long time to come.  Good luck, Vox Machina. Don't forget to get involved with our Question of the Week.  This week is about surviving the last encounter.  Not everyone is sure they're going to make it out alive?  Who do you think will live to see the next day? Place your bets now.   Question of the Week for #TalkingCrit We're looking at the @TheCinderKing fight. Who will live, who will die, let us know. #Criticalrole — Jonny Robertson (@FotoGuy79) December 14, 2016 Don't forget to subscribe to the podcast for automatic updates and episodes.  You can tune in via iTunes or Google Play.  If you want to comment or join along in the f

  • Talking Crit Podcast: Thordak

    26/02/2022 Duración: 34min

Here it is, the holiday episode of Talking Crit.  Thordak has fallen, and Emon has been saved -sort of?  Vox Machina has survived, for now, and there is still a mystery to solve.  Raishan is still alive, and that cave has some questions to answer. @Pettyartist on twitter has come up with a theory on what those crystal structures could be, and I think she's bang on about it.  We also want to boost the signal for @CritRoleStats and their project to track down more stats and to translate other Critical Role episodes into other languages.  If you have time over the holidays, send em' a tweet and help get on board with the project. There is no Question of the Week over the holidays, but we do want to give a special shout out to Thordak himself.  He was an awesome twitter user, and his comedy was always on point.  Thank you for the laughs, we mourn your loss, or will we? Have an awesome and safe holidays.  We wish you the best and can't wait to see everyone in 2017.   Don't forget to subscribe to the podc

  • Talking Crit Podcast: Raishan

    26/02/2022 Duración: 34min

It's the new year, which means new beginnings, sort of.  Vox Machina was left in the literal dragon's den, and things got a lil' toasty.  Brendan and I try and help make sense of all the chaos that happened.  There was a lot to keep track of, a lot of feels and a lot of stress eating happened to all of us. We are pretty sure that @pettyartist was right with her idea that the eggs/vassels/necro things were the Clone Spell, or a DM equivalent, damn those tricky green dragons.  We are also sure that no good is going to come of it for VM, like that wasn't obvious in the first place. There were some pluses from the episode, it wasn't all doom and gloom.  First off, nobody died, which was damn close for a lot of the group.  Second of all, we have a possible Kiki nuking those eggs from orbit.  Vox Machina will have to roll the dice on whether those eggs survived or not.  This leads into our Question of the Week. Did Keyleth fry those eggs in Raishan's hands?  Give a vote, and don't forget to follow and subscribe so

  • Talking Crit Podcast: What Lies Beneath the Surface

    26/02/2022 Duración: 34min

It's time to take a much needed break for Vox Machina.  There's so much to process after the fight with Raishan.  Brendan and I try and make sense of everything, and we even try to figure out which character from Friends each member of VM is.  I still think Keyleth is a Phoebe. Patrick Rothfuss was the special guest, and Kerreck was an emotional force throughout the episode.  Though, we still all hoped he was secretly working for Acquisitions Incorporated.  We also got some fun in the tub, and a Deck of Many Things.  DM's everywhere must have been white knuckling at the prospect of Grog pulling a card, and his urge to still pull cards from the deck. Our shout out this week goes to Reddit user, shotthephantom.  He created an amazing animated gif of Percy, Vax, and Vex in the tub.  It was an epic moment, it was an epic scene, and the hilarity will continue on for a long time to come.  It will always be funny, no matter where you are in the world. It was also Appreciate a Dragon Day on January 16th, please

  • Talking Crit Podcast: Deadly Echoes

    26/02/2022 Duración: 20min

It's about to get down and lichy in this here lair.  Vox Machina has infiltrated the ancient lair of Opash, which is now a lair of Thordak, which is now a lair of Raishan?  We're going to need to see whose name is on the lease.  With Paladin in hand, we get to see some of a DM's most favourite bits, the clever trap, and oh what a trap.  We had some flame skulls, and we had some serious character development with Scanlan.  Where is he going with the addiction?  Will he be able to pull out of the drug escapism?  It was a deep look into the Shorthalt mind set. No Question of the Week this week, I wanted to put some focus on Let's Talk.  This year, on January 25th, it's Bell Let's Talk Day.  It's an initiative that helps drive the conversation about mental illness in Canada.  It comes down to the simple, yet difficult, idea to talk about what's going on in our heads.  I'm a huge supporter of this, having gone through depression myself.  It's great that we are finally put this in the open, and showing people that

  • Talking Crit Podcast: The Deceiver’s Stand

    26/02/2022 Duración: 32min

When will the emotional roller coaster stop?  Oh geez, please let it stop, and it doesn't look like it's going to get any better.  We have lost a Vex and we have lost a Scanlan, at least we have one of the twins back.  We have to wait a whole week to see if we get a Scanlan back, it is going to be a long seven days.  Something we can all use to comfort our souls as we wait on the Shorthalt news is some amazing Critter Fan Art.  We have some shout outs this week, the first being Meg S, who did an amazing image of Allura, with some great nods to Carol Danvers.  The second is David Rodrigues again.  His talent isn't limited to just design, you should check out his illustration of the Raven Queen as well as his tumblr page.  The finals one is Kent Davis, who did an awesome cover of Rogue Magazine.  We gotta admit, Grog is looking swanky as the cover model. Our Question of the Week looks at the Scanlan resurrection, and will it happen.  Brendan comes up with an interesting theory that there's a quest for a Wish s
